Topic-wise weightage

The IBPS notification and Mains handout for this cycle contain no past papers and no split by subject. Everything on this page is our own work, not official. The Prelims tables and the Mains Professional Knowledge table come from past or memory-based papers. The Mains English, Reasoning and Quant tables are AgriPrep’s estimate. The basis is under each table.

Expected questions per topic

Priority: High = 5 or more expected questions, Medium = 3–4, Low = 1–2 (a range uses its midpoint). An easy low-count topic is still a quick mark.

Two recalled papers only; counts swing a lot between years (e.g. DBMS 6 vs 17). Priority here rests on those two papers, so treat it as a rough guide, and cover every subject.

Based on: Two memory-based IT Officer Mains papers, recalled by candidates: the exams of 29 January 2023 and 14 December 2024, 60 questions recalled from each. Both copies come from one coaching publisher, and recalled papers may be incomplete or inexact. Counted 31 October 2026; each question counted under one subject. Average = the subject’s questions in both papers ÷ 120 × 50, rounded; Range = each paper scaled to 50; scaling assumes the recalled questions show the real mix. Difficulty is not rated: two papers are too few. Counting worksheet. Last reviewed 31 October 2026.

Weightage FAQ

Is there official topic-wise weightage for IBPS SO IT Officer?

No. The IBPS notification and Mains handout for this cycle give the questions, marks and time of each test, and no split by subject. Everything on this page is our own analysis or estimate, not official, and the topic mix can change in any year.

Which Professional Knowledge subjects carry the most questions?

In the two memory-based IT Officer Mains papers we read (January 2023 and December 2024), OOP and programming (11 and 13), Database management (DBMS) (6 and 17), Networking (14 and 6), Operating systems (10 and 6) questions had the most. The counts change a lot from paper to paper, so we show a range. For the Prelims there is not enough data yet.

Is the Mains English, Reasoning and Quant weightage known?

Not officially, and it isn’t from past Mains papers. These tables are AgriPrep’s estimate: AgriPrep found no past Mains papers with these sections, so it took the topic frequency in Prelims papers and shifted it to Mains formats (more sets, fewer one-liners). The tests are the same for the IT Officer and AFO posts.
